IRELAND’S first toy rental club will kick off soon, seeing children between three months and three years get new toys each month.
The Clever Tots Toy Club hopes to eliminate waste and unnecessary spending with a monthly toy box delivery of four toys each month for the kids which then go back for cleaning and sanitisation and go back into the delivery rotation again.
The monthly toy box delivery includes a set of four carefully chosen, age-appropriate toys, that are replaced each month to “avoid fatigue and provide new learning opportunities through play.”
The toys are designed to stimulate the developmental needs of young babies and children with the toy club membership encouraging parents to “engage in their child’s world of play where they can learn new skills every day”.
According to Clever Tots, the subscription, which is priced at €39.99 a month with discounts for purchases of 3, 6 and 12-month memberships, will save parents an average of €60 a month, compared to if they had bought the toys.
‘PERFECT SOLUTION’
The box will also save countless time cleaning up endless amounts of toys and will hopefully see a massive reduction in old toys being sent to a landfill.
Advocating for the Clever Tots Toy Club concept, Laura Erskine – Parenting Expert said: “As a parent, it’s hard to know sometimes if the toys you choose are the best for their developmental needs, or if you have simply been influenced by popular children’s television programming.
“Added to that the expense and sheer volume of baby and toddler gear in your home, a toy rental scheme is the perfect solution. I only wish there was similar for all the baby equipment they grow out of so quickly!”

Founded by husband-and-wife team, Didier and Jenel Sanders, Clever Tots Toy Club was born from their experience as new parents working and living in Dubai, where they happened upon a sustainable toy-rental service.
When the couple couldn’t source a similar service here when they moved back home at the start of the pandemic, they decided to make the move to set up their own business.

The environmentally friendly Clever Tots Toy Club recycles and reuses the toys across its membership base with its monthly toy replacement model.
Each toy is hygienically sanitised using an eco-friendly cleaning solution approved for use with children, followed by ozone gas treatment to eliminate any possibility of remaining bacteria or viruses.
