MUM and business consultant Becky Stevenson has no qualms about spinning her six-year-old daughter Summer ‘white lies’, to make her own life easier.
Becky, 40, who lives in Sheffield with her husband Ben, 35, who works in facilities, says: “I never thought I’d lie to my daughter.

“But the reality is that since she was able to understand, her life has been peppered with fibs to make my life easier.
“When she was younger, I’d easily deflect her wanting to go to the park when I was too busy with a blithe, ‘Sorry it’s shut today’.
“As she’s got older and realised that parks don’t shut, I make a show of looking at my phone and saying that the local Facebook group says the swings are undergoing maintenance . . .
“I don’t feel guilty about these white lies as they won’t damage her and they preserve my sanity by dodging any potential tantrums . . .
“As she gets older she’ll become less easily fobbed off.
“However, I imagine I’ll still lie to her, to protect her – there are some things children don’t need to know.”
