Inside Ireland’s top Christmas toys since 1993 in Smyths’ catalogues as 2021 must-haves revealed

TAKE a nostalgia-filled trip through time as Smyths Toys Superstores has revealed their Christmas catalogues from over the years.

The popular chain has shared front covers from as far back as 1993.

The video – posted by Smyths Toys store on TikTok – takes us through the years showcasing what they had for sale each year.

The 2000 cover features everything from a Bear In The Big Blue House teddy bear to a scooter.

While the 2004 cover shows the introduction of video games with a Spider-man game for the PlayStation 2 up for grabs on the front cover.

And 2008 had everything from a Hannah Montana guitar to a Wii.

DREAM TOYS LIST

Meanwhile, the official Dream Toys list has been announced by the Toy Retailers Association in the UK, rounding up the top playthings.

The Barbie Dreamtopia Rainbow Magic Mermaid Doll has been revealed as one of the top 12 toys and it’s in Smyths for only €26.99.

This Barbie is a mermaid with rainbow hair and a colour-changing tail when you dip her into water.

The Little Live Pets My Pig Piggly is aimed at any children over four who would love a pet of their own. Smyths are currently selling the popular toy for €29.99.

Piggly can be fed, walked and nuzzled and has over 25 sounds and reactions – perfect for keeping your child entertained.

The Hot Wheels Massive Loop Mayhem, Mattel is a huge loop with a motor and a booster for over fives that will entertain hot wheels lovers for hours. Smyths are selling it for €59.99.

Star Wars Boba Fett’s Starship, Lego is a trickier build with 593 pieces aimed at kids nine and up. The quiet toy will provide plenty of entertainment – even after it’s been put together.

The Lego piece is on sale in Smyths for €49.99.

DOLLS TO SOFT TOYS

The Cocomelon Deluxe JJ Interactive Doll, Bandai is an interactive boy doll that can be fed and dressed while he sings songs and giggles. It is currently on sale in Smyths for €49.99.

The Pokemon 8” Plush Pikachu is an adorable soft toy suitable for any child aged two and up. It’s in Smyths for €15.99.

The Paw Patrol Chase’s Deluxe Transforming Vehicle plastic car would be perfect for all fans of the TV show aged three and over – and it costs just €18.99 in Smyths.

The Bluey Family Home Playset is from the animated TV series on CBeebies and Disney+. It is suitable for kids over three years old and has plenty of accessories. It is currently €49.99 in Smyths.

FAMILY FRIENDLY

The Magic Mixies Cauldron has all the magic ingredients you need and a special Wand to mix a potion and make a cute furry soft toy friend. The product can be used again and again with refill packs available.

It is on the pricier side in Smyths and currently costs €79.99 but has a five-star rating on the site.

Gassy Gus, priced at €27.99, is the only board game to make it to the list and is aimed at families aged four or upwards.

The Jurassic World Scorpios Rex is perfect for all kids over four. The action figure is currently priced at €34.99 in Smyths.

The L.O.L. Surprise Movie Magic Doll has plenty of various dolls and each comes with 10 surprises, including a secret message, 3D glasses, a fashion outfit and a movie script. It is €12.99 at Smyths.
