IRISH parents have been warned against using a selection of potentially dangerous toys that may cause choking and suffocation.
The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission has issued a number of alerts today for six toys only available online.


Inflatable pool rings that were sold on ebay were found to contain a high level of chemicals.
CCPC said: “A safety issue has been identified where the chemical DEHP levels exceeds permitted limits.
“Given the online availability of this product, it may have been sold to customers in the Republic of Ireland.”
A safety warning was also issued for another inflatable – a beach ball.
CCPC warned: “A safety issue has been identified with the following inflatable beach ball which was available on the Wish platform.”
Another two warnings were issued today that may put kids at risk of suffocation.

SUFFOCATING RISK
The first toy is a red and yellow plastic toy duck sold on the AliExpress.
The watchdog said: “A safety issue has been identified with the following plastic toy duck which was available on the AliExpress platform.
“A safety issue has been identified where plastic foil bag does not comply with safety standards, which may pose a suffocation risk to the child.”
A vampire girl doll also being sold on AliExpress is also in breach of regulations and may put kids in danger.
CCPC advised the “plastic foil bag does not comply with safety standards”, which may post a suffocation risk to a child.
CHOKING RISK
Another warning was issued for a swimming baby doll that could pose a risk in kids choking, also sold on AliExpress.
They warned: “A safety issue has been identified where the plastic arm of the doll detaches, which presents a choking risk.”
The final warning today warned parents on the dangers associated with a wooden lacing watermelon toy sold on the AliExpress Platform.
CCPC warned: “A safety issue has been identified where the cord of the product exceeds permitted lengths. This may allow a child to become entangled in it, and lead to suffocation by strangulation.”
WHAT TO DO NEXT
Anyone who bought the affected toys is asked to stop using them immediately.
CCPC said: “If you believe that you may have purchased an affected product, discontinue use immediately and discard the product immediately.
“You may wish to contact the online store from where you purchased this product to see if there are any remedies available to you. This can be done via your user account on the relevant platform.”
Meanwhile, on Wednesday Irish safety alerts were also issued for parents over dolls with high chemicals and bath stand that could put kids at risk.
